Simba found 2 humans who he happily calls Caitlin and Michael. He loves his humans in a way no one would never understand. He takes them for walks, kisses them, let them play with his toys and he let them hug him anytime, any day so they can feel loved.
This is a beautiful history of how Simba’s humans decided to get married. And I promise you, he is really happy about it (make sure to watch the highlights video of Simba giving High Fives with Caitlin. Good job!) 🙂
Ok, back to the human prospective, let me tell you something, Caitlin and Michael are the sweetest humans… I mean, couple I have ever met! They are spontaneous, lovely, cute and very in love with each other. Really, what else could I ask for a engagement session?!
A curiosity: Caitlin found me on Instagram (@daysyphotography) and she contacted me to have her session done in Frederick, MD. I am so happy she picked that location, because I feel like writing up a history each time I get to photograph a new couple in these streets.
I have done an exclusive interview with Caitlin to learn a little bit more about their love history. After reading this, you have to agree with me: It is so inspiring!! I love it when she describes how Michael proposed to her. Read it right here, right now!
Daysy: How did you and Michael meet?
Caitlin: We met at a 2010 new years eve party at York College.
Daysy: How long after you started dating, you and Michael decided to get married?
Caitlin: Michael and I had an instant connection. We had only been dating a few weeks when I told some of my closest girlfriends that I thought he was “the one”.
Daysy: How did he propose to you? Can you describe that moment? 🙂
Caitlin: Michael proposed at home in our apartment. He cooked us dinner and surprised me with a plate of cookies he had made. One of the cookies had the ring in it. I was completely surprised when he got on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was so excited I could only shake my head up and down. It was the first time I think I have ever cried happy tears, it was such a perfect moment.
Daysy: How did Simba became part of the family? How old was him when he was “adopted”?
Caitlin: Michael and I had discussed getting our own dog as soon as we moved into our first apartment. Michael’s family had adopted dogs from the shelter before and we decided we wanted to rescue a puppy. The first time we met 6 month old 50 lb Simba it could not have gone better, he was super friendly and could even play fetch. We were so excited that we filled out the papers on the spot and Simba was able to come home with us the following week. And now, a year later, Simba has grown into a 100lb extremely energetic member of our family.
Daysy: When are you guys planning to get married?
Caitlin: We haven’t set a date yet, we are still soaking up all the excitement of being engaged.
Daysy: Think fast game: what’s the first word that comes to your mind when you think about Michael?
Caitlin: Loving and supportive

Highliths Video (Mix of Video and Images from this session)
We started our session at Baker Park. Simba is a young Labrador who is part Caitlin & Michael’s lives for over a year now, so
we are talking energetic (3×50 level up) and sooo cute puppy. And we are also warning you that you may not want to stop hugging him.
He did behave so good for us though. Take a peak on these images. Really, you will want to take him home 🙂
Time for some “grown up” time.. Simba’s petsitter came over (A.K.A. Caitlin and Michael’s friends, who we are very appreciative for! 🙂 to
take him for a walk, so we could continue shooting more and more at Baker Park.
We found a tree with these very different shaped flowers.. inside of it that are 3 seeds. It also became a perfect holder for Caitlin
Engagement Ring! OMG, I am so in love this shot!!!
Next, we headed over to the city.. Frederick Downtown. We actually had plans to meet at the Market St Starbucks.. But look at this
spot we passed on our way. My reaction? Stop the car and call them for a quick shot. I am not joking when I say I love Frederick! Out Loud! 🙂
Yes, that is right! This is a no sidewalk street!
Now, moving to Downtown, Market St, we walked over a few blocks.. I love to photograph like that. My creative juices keep flowing
with no interruption. The best is to see a spot and think fast about how to use it for our story telling. Awwwn, we found so many lovely spots!
And this became my favorite ring shot ever so far! The flowers with a very vivid purple, the sky pretty in white and blue In combination with
the PERFECT RING… Yes, I didn’t think I could have it all in one single image 🙂 MY FAVORITE RING SHOT… EVER!
And last, but no list…
We ended up the session with this silhouette shot, on the way back to the parking lot. Seriously, I am glad we parked close by!
So we had the time for 2 more shots. Can you spot a heart shape in between their kissing?! Me too. And the message is pretty clear to me…
It was just meant to be 🙂
